In The Studio

Creating my ceramic sculptures is a quiet process, starting with a simple idea and a connection with the clay. I look for a balance between ease and refinement, shaping pieces that carry their own subtle story through form and texture.

It usually begins with a shape or feeling that sparks curiosity. I build the base using coil building and pinch pot techniques. There is a calm rhythm to coiling and pinching, and together they create a foundation that feels both solid and open to exploration.

As the piece takes shape, I let go a little and allow the clay to guide me. Working with my hands becomes a conversation, intuitive and responsive. The clay moves, resists and invites, and I respond, shaping what feels right in the moment.

The process reflects life in its quiet rhythm. Some days the clay flows easily, other days it asks for patience. Those shifts settle into the sculpture, leaving a trace of where I was emotionally and physically while making it.

Each piece becomes a vessel for experience and intention. As the clay transforms beneath my fingers, I am reminded of how closely art and life mirror each other, in subtle and honest ways.

Every sculpture carries its own story, shaped by intention, intuition and the natural character of the clay.
